Personal Care Items

Our homeless guests can also use small containers of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant, mouth wash, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, hand sanitizer, razors, combs, feminine hygiene products, diapers, etc.

Dog and Cat food is always needed as Plowshares is sometime the only place furry companions can receive food.

PLEASE NOTE that we cannot accept clothing donations with the exception of socks; there is always a demand for warm, clean socks.

Some Ideas

You can plant an extra row in your garden for us or buy something extra for us when you go shopping – a can of coffee, a bag of onions, a package of hamburger, a couple pounds of butter. This enhances our cook’s ability to create fresh, nutritious meals for our guests.

Our wish list always includes kitchen scrubbers, bleach, laundry detergent, paper towels and large Ziploc bags.

Donation Guidelines

We have a policy at Plowshares regarding donations of used clothing. We do not accept any clothes except for new or barely used clean socks. Donated clothes need sorting, cleaning, storage and distribution. We have a limited capacity of our Personal Care Center staff and physical space. We also do not have laundry facilities to wash clothes. Please do not bring used clothing or large quantities of books, household or other items to Plowshares! It is best to take these to another organization specifically geared toward this purpose.

Our mission is to feed people and provide personal care items. Prepared food donations need to have been cooked or baked in a commercial kitchen. Fresh garden produce is always welcome. Donations of groceries, cash and personal care items such as shampoo, soap, razors and socks continue to be greatly appreciated and needed at Plowshares.
