Attention all of our MEALS-ON-WHEELS SENIORS

Beginning Monday, August 2, your meals will be delivered in the morning instead of the afternoon. You can expect delivery between about 11:00 am and 1:00 pm instead of 4 pm and 6 pm - so you can subtract about five hours from your usual current delivery time to estimate your new delivery time.

We hope you find this earlier delivery hour more convenient. Again, if you will ever be away during your delivery time, please give us 24 hours notice if possible, or call us as soon as you can, at 462-8582.

Plowshares' Organic Garden

Thanks to North Coast Opportunities' Gardens Project, the Community Foundation of Mendocino County, and many, many local donors and volunteers, Plowshares created its first-ever vegetable garden in spring 2009!  Just in the first few months of operation, the garden yielded over 500 pounds of fresh, organic squash, cucumbers, melons, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers and more, to help feed the hungry in our meals programs.  Produce doesn't get any better than fresh-picked and organic, and now that we are feeding record-breaking numbers of the hungry, it's more welcome than ever.
While we are making our own compost and using some of our kitchen volunteers, we rely on donated seeds and starts, compost and mulch, and volunteer work and workdays to keep the garden going.  If you are interested in helping, you may contact Garden Coordinator Julie Drucker at 937-3671 or  juliedruckerdance@yahoo.com .  To see lots of photos of our garden in various stages of creation, go to:   www.gardensproject.org/thegardens/ukiah/plowshares/plowshares.php
