Community Dining Room

 

 

 

Free hot, nutritious meals open to all with no questions asked, every weekday year-round. Also open all holidays except Christmas Day.

 Dining Room Hours

Early seating for families with children, and seniors 65 and over: Monday-Friday  5:30 – 6:00 p.m.

 

Open to all: Monday-Friday  6:00 – 6:30 p.m.

 

Homeless Services

 

FOR HOMELESS ONLY.  Free of charge (donations welcome). Available Monday - Friday during usual dinnertime hours above. Please note the following exceptions:

  • MAIL PICKUP     Usual dinnertime hours only                          EXCEPT first day of the month:  3:00 p.m. through dinnertime

  • LAUNDRY VOUCHERS   Monday only, at usual dinner hours

  • HAIRCUTS     Wednesday only, 5:00 - 6:15

  • Socks and sleeping bags in cold weather

  • Personal care products, diapers, dog food, etc. as available.

  • Use of a telephone for job or home searches, medical appointments and emergencies

  • Message service and voicemailboxes. Message phone number is 707-462-0265. Please do not give anyone our business office phone number for your messages!

  • Mail pick-up for people who don't have a permanent address.  Have mail sent to 1346 South State Street, Ukiah, CA  95482.  Please do not give anyone our post office box as your mailing address!

     

 

Meals-on-Wheels

Hot, nutritious, freshly prepared Meals-on-Wheels are delivered to disabled, homebound seniors (age 60 and older) in the Ukiah area five days each week. 90+% of our seniors tell us that the meals help them stay in their homes rather than entering an institution.  Call 462-8582 for more information.

 

 Other Services

 

  • Food Service job-training certification through Regional Occupational Program:  525-hour class in food safety and preparation, job skills, etc.

  • Worksite for court-referred, work release and General Assistance community-service hours

  • Training worksite for the UVAH, Private Industry Council and other job programs

  • Outreach site for other agencies including Mental Health, Project Sanctuary, Ford Street Project, Mendocino County Youth Project

  • Resource information and referral to other agencies such as the Ukiah Community Center and Food Bank, Project Sanctuary, Department of Social Services, Legal Services, Veterans' Services, etc.

  • Administering special events and programs such as the Angel Fund, thrift-store vouchers, Santa's Toy Shop for children on Christmas Eve, etc.

  • Education, through our monthly newsletter, regarding the political and personal realities of poverty, hunger and homelessness - and how to address them.
